Berkana and Elite Bohemia
Berkana fixtures are manufactured in the Czech Republic by Elite Bohemia, using Bohemian crystal. The relationship is family-connected and operationally integrated rather than arm's length: Berkana develops the project requirements and design direction, coordinates custom work with the Czech design and manufacturing team, quotes and invoices North American clients, and stays with the project through installation. Berkana is the North American face of that manufacturing, not a reseller of it – and Elite Bohemia, not Berkana, is the manufacturer.
Made by hand
The process remains roughly ninety-nine percent handwork. Crystal is drawn and blown, cut, polished and inspected by hand; frames are finished and fixtures assembled, wired and tested in the same workshop. Elite Bohemia's established production experience – rather than any claim about Berkana's own age – is what stands behind each piece.
Why it matters for a project
Because the workshop is one place and the coordination is one point of contact, a fixture can be resized, recoloured or recomposed for a specific ceiling without the design intent being lost in translation between vendors.
